SPark's Literature

Over the years I've written a number of things, so I'm sticking them in four categories to help simplify and organize things. So go look through them and enjoy! (Also, just a note, I always welcome advice and constructive criticism. I'm still learning how to write, and I think I always will be.)

And yep, I know there's a donate button on the main page, but for those of you who didn't scroll down far enough to see it, or for the few who came here via other routes, I'm repeating my plea for donations. Look up ^ Do you see an add banner? Nope! If you want to help keep it that way, and help keep the bandwidth allowance that keeps this page from being down once a week or so, then donate! Even a dollar helps, and for every donation, even just a dollar, I'll give you a free original sketch or short story.

Fantasy short stories

Fire and Ice The tale of an elemental dragon. This story was somewhat inspiried by Brian Aldiss' Heliconia world, but I've put my own unique twist on it. Illustrations for this story are done, and will eventually be added to it. They can now be viewed in the art section under "dragons."

The Knight's Daughter. I once had an idea to do a series of stories representing every possible variation of the classic Knight rescues Maiden from Dragon story. (You know, Knight rescues Dragon from Maiden, Maiden rescues Knight from Dragon, Dragon rescues Maiden from Knight, and so on.) This one is the only one I finished, and represents Maiden rescues Dragon from Knight, though it evolved while I was writing it from the original concept.

Singularity Ok, this isn't exactly fantasy, it's more science fiction. It's a story I've had in my head for a long time, and may actually turn out to be the first chapter of a novel, but then again maybe not. I actually put it on paper for a creative writing class. (illustrated)

Flame Song's Tail, er Tale. The story of Flame Song the Firecat, from the world of the Dragon Queen series that I'm writing. (Illustrated)

Another Tail, er Tale. The further adventures of Flame Song the Firecat, wherein she leaves the world of the Dragon Queen and ends up in a place called Mysteria. (Illustrated)

A House Tail In which Flame Song builds a house, gets into and out of some deep trouble and rescues a cute guy. (Illustrated)

A Home Tail How Flame Song and Aidan leave Mysteria, and discover that there is no place like home. (Illustrations pending)

For additional (and personally I think much better written) tales of Flame and Aidan, go look at my serial novel! Updated three times a week.

Many thanks to Candace seats for loaning me her world to write in. Mysteria

Serious short stories

Of Girls and Teddy Bears Based roughly around my own life, this story expresses, in a cute and cuddly kind of way, how it is to leave home for the first time.

The Castle Gate This is actually the first serious story I ever wrote outside of an English class, and I think it is still one of the best things I've ever written. It's a parable of sorts about life and loneliness.

Unicorn Truths This short story crosses the line between the real and the fantasy, but as it says something about real life, I left it in this section. I wrote the earliest version of this when I was still in high school, but completely re-wrote it for my college creative writing class.

Poetry

These were all written for various classes, I don't really do much poetry on my own. But I liked how these came out,so I thought I'd share them.

Cobweb Dreams
The Babble Hymn of the Auto (nonsense)
The Question
The End of Night
We Things of Shadow
Something's Out There
Conquering Angel's Landing
Pain
Meeting Bob
You Know Who You Are

And last, but not least, my masterpiece in progress. There are only a couple more chapters to go before it's done! And, Ok, this may be cruel to my few eager fans, but yes, I have written up to chapter 23, I believe, but (don't freak out) I'm not sure what I did with chapters 20-23. I'm looking believe me! I'll post them as soon as I find them.

Copyright note: These stories are mine! You can quote them, you can tell people about them, I'd be thrilled if you'd link to them. You can even reproduce them entirely on your site, but whatever you do with them, you give me credit! If you try to claim them as yours, you're going to make an idiot out of yourself, and I will find you and make you regret it. (Besides, these are the rough draft version. It's full of mistakes, typos, inconsistencies, and other stuff you'd have to clean up before you could do anything useful with it.)
