Hope In Devastation

For no apparent reason the attacks were on civilians today.
Now everyone has seen the tapes... and almost everyone has prayed.
Some cry silently, some simply turn to hate.
Others simply bow their heads and say "We'll never forget this date."
The engine wasn't ever heard by those who died in flames.
And sadly as it might be... we don't even know their names.
A short scream suddenly cut short, could have come from someone's mother.
And in this time we think that's it,
there won't be another.
On views around the world we saw; the plane banking and the fear.
And words of utter disbelief were made by those who were near...
While hoping to calm the world another explosion was heard, this time in the impenatrable place.
And this caused shaken nerves.
I watched in silent disbelief as a once proud symbol fell.
As ash and dust filled citizen's lungs, and as those in the building were in hell.
Some tried to save themselves with flight, but simply met a faster fate,
Then for those on the highest level.
It was just too late.
They fell, they screamed, they cried for a salvation sweet...
And we could only observe as families lost each other today, while others rejoiced in the death and danced in the streets...
But the nation hasn't fallen, and the spirit hasn't faded.
Today a nation saw how much of the world wasn't jaded.
Though those who danced and cheered and smiled, rejoiced in the devastation.
We simply held our heads high and sneered at their salivation.
They burned our flag and crushed the stars but this didn't matter for long...
As the mourning nation leaders departed as they met...
They burst into song.
